This course begins with a review of the main points of what is taught in the Spanish I (A) and (B) sequence. Students enrolling in Spanish II (A) can expect to build upon their knowledge and to move on to more complex tenses and structures. Throughout twelve weeks, students will learn vocabulary regarding the body, health and the doctor’s office, childhood, and professions. While implementing their growing knowledge of vocabulary, they will begin to master Spanish grammatical structures such comparing using prepositions correctly, talking about past actions using the preterite and imperfect tenses together, learning about irregular preterite conjugations, and using negative expressions and questions in the past tenses. Throughout the course, students will enrich their knowledge of vocabulary themes and grammar topics through exercises with the trailer for the film Alamar (Pedro González-Rubio, 2009).
